Rain was bound to show up in London at some point and unfortunately for me it was on the day I was supposed to see tennis at Wimbledon.
They did officially cancel tennis when it started at noon. They just postponed it till it stopped -- six hours later. Eventually, Italy's Fabio Fognini and Serbia's Novak Djokovic got to finish their match, but on a very wet playing surface.
They kept sliding and falling on their rears through the remainder of their first set (yes that's how little play there was before the rain because they were the first match of the day for this particular court) and the next two sets.
Djokovic won, 2-sets-to-1, by the way.
Since the surfaces were so wet, and the sun was setting, everything else scheduled for the court I was at -- including a doubles match featuring Serena and Venus Williams -- was postponed till another day.
Actually all the remaining matches for every court were postponed.
I finally had a chance to see two of the biggest names in Tennis -- at Wimbledon -- and Mother Nature denied me.
Curses Mother Nature!
I'm now off to pack for tomorrow's flight back to Atlanta.
What a bummer curt! Otherwise, it sounds like you've been doing some cool things. Can't wait to see the pictures. Have a safe trip home! Heather
